Faces of 340B

Hanan Tadros Fifteen years ago, Hanan Tadros struggled to manage multiple chronic health conditions and numerous prescriptions. UI Health referred her to their 340B-supported medication Therapy Management Clinic (MTMC), where she meets biweekly with pharmacists, receives medication, and manages her conditions without cost. Because of 340B and with the support of UI Health and the MTMC, Hanan hasn’t needed insulin for seven years. Hear Hanan’s story.

The pharmacist said the medication Michael needed to take to ensure his body would not reject his new kidney cost $90,000. Michael was concerned about his ability to afford the $500 co-payment that came with the life-saving medication. That’s when a social worker at Einstein introduced the patient to the hospital’s 340B program. As a result, Michael didn’t have to pay any additional money to receive the drugs and could focus on recovery.
